By: Eton • 3 minStockholm in winter, at the height of the festive season. For Holiday 2026, the dress code softens and formality gives way to ease. Well dressed, but without the performance: dressing up becomes less about the rules and more about the pleasure of the clothes themselves. From the first toast to the French exit, this is our guide to dressing for the hours when the evening comes into its own, and for everything those hours holds. Because the best part of the night is when the party is already underway: dinner is over, the bass is turned up, and the seating plan has been abandoned in favour of a more natural flow. Ties loosen, sleeves roll up, and the evening finds its own rhythm. The night is young, and a good party never gets old.

There is a particular intimacy to the late hours, and dressing for it calls for a certain instinct. A tonal suit, a considered detail, a finishing touch that brings something extra. Because who knows where the evening will end? The ground rule: keep it simple, but make it special.
Our setting is a historic 17th-century palace, transformed into an intimate dining hall, just around the corner from our Stockholm HQ.

THE BLACK SHIRT
There is more to the look than the shirt, but if you ask us, it’s the best place to start. When in doubt – a black one in our signature twill or solid merino strikes the perfect balance between formal and smart-casual. Well balanced in construction and in detail, it can be worn with or without neckwear and holds its own either way. Styled tonally with black trousers and shoes, it makes an understated, almost intellectual take on evening dressing. The interest lies in the subtleties: the interplay of textures, the way the fabric catches the light, the details that reveal themselves only up close.

KING TWILL SHIRTS
The joy of dressing continues, layer by layer. For occasions that call for a touch more formality and flair, opt for the King Twill shirt. shirtmaking royalty, it is rich in texture and luminous in finish, crafted from double two-ply cotton in a quite intricate weave that creates a natural three-dimensional effect. After hours, the pronounced diagonal weave catches the light, lending the shirt a subtle luster and a little extra presence. Add a tie, choose your jacket and make the look your own. Its wrinkle-resistant finish means it stays composed long after the evening ends.

BLACK TIE
Nothing says the holidays quite like a black tie moment. After hours, it becomes less ceremonial and more personal, inviting for self-expression as the party peaks. The more details, the more character: a silk bowtie, neatly tied in place, and mother-of-pearl cufflinks bring a sense of occasion to the French cuff shirt. For New Year's Eve, seal your look with the cummerbund in pleated silk: more than another layer of refinement, it makes as a conversation starter in its own right. As always, the fit is imperative: the jacket should follow the line of the shoulders, the sleeves should reveal a glimpse of the shirt cufflinks, and the trousers should fall cleanly over the shoes. These proportions are what give the look its precision.

THE SILK SHIRT
For a more relaxed take on evening dress codes, turn to silk shirting. Less expected, our silk twill shirt brings a fluid drape and a soft luster to the occasion. Keep the styling as effortless as the fabric; it speaks volumes on its own. This one is for the man who double-booked and kept it to himself. He arrives late and leaves early and somehow makes both parties feel like he was there all night. A button undone, the collar gently turned up, and he’s gone before anyone thinks to ask where. That’s the French exit, and silk is the fabric for it.

TEXTURED TWILL SHIRTS
By day the Textured Twill shirt dresses up the day and stays sharp when the invitation calls for more. Robust in character and pronounced in texture, it is an exceptional fabric that needs to be felt, crafted from two-ply cotton and ideal for layering. When it comes to styling, cashmere is always a good idea – a shirt jacket in our Wool Cashmere Dream fabric, with a classic crew neck loosely wrapped over the shoulders, makes a day-to-evening look that moves seamlessly between events: relaxed enough for the daytime, considered enough for the evening. And when the jacket comes off, the shirt holds its own.
